Press Release – Sweet Mickeys, a candy shoppe, to Open in Ballard, June 2011

Seattle, WA – March 11, 2011 – Sweet Mickeys, LLC dba Sweet Mickey’s, a candy shoppe, today announces its grand opening is June, 2011. Sweet Mickey’s is located at 2233 NW 57th St adjacent to the Ballard QFC on 24th Ave NW. This unique 650 sq ft retail space is nested on the SE corner of the new On The Park Apartments overlooking the park.

Owner Randy Brinker, a Ballard resident since 2006, says he plans to offer nostalgic and bulk candies such as you’d see in old fashioned candy stores from our childhood. He also plans to serve candied apples, ice cream, and cookies. The so-named “candy shoppe” will also offer gifts and trinkets from local artists (such as greeting cards, blown glass candy dishes, etc.) and seasonal items.

The store brand and design pays tribute to Randy’s grandmother, Mickey Brinker, who raised his two brothers, sister, and him after his mother passed away. She owned a shop in their neighborhood of Overland in St. Louis, MO where she sold party supplies, fresh baked sweets, and candy. Although the concept has been refreshed and updated, there will still be traditional elements infused with our local Northwest culture.

“I am absolutely thrilled to have the opportunity to be more involved in growing the local community, and hope to be a neighborhood hub, much like Grandma Mickey’s place was,” says owner Randy Brinker.

The statements contained in this press release are forward-looking statements. Actual results may differ from those forecast due to a variety of factors that can adversely affect the Company’s plans to operate. Liquidity and financial condition such as risks associated with economic, weather, and other factors affecting the ability of the Company to finance its plans for development, the mix of goods sold, pricing, and other competitive factors, should be noted.
